Guardians of East Barisa Primary School on Monday locked a teacher inside a classroom on charges of ill-treating them and several students of the school.
The teacher, Putul Banerjee, allegedly never came to school on time and misbehaved with many students on several occasions. The principal and the managing committee of the school too have complaints against her but they were afraid to take any action against her as she claimed to be in close contact with several ministers of the state.
The school campus remained tensed since on Monday morning after a group of parents gathered at the institution. The agitating guardians locked the teacher in a classroom and refused to let her out.
When the relatives of Banerjee came to rescue her, a confrontation broke out between the two groups and police had to be called in to contain the situation.
Two of the protesters were detained. “She uses offensive language while scolding students and beats them up mercilessly. She never comes to class on time and when questioned by the authorities, she says that she is in contact with ministers, which deters the principal from taking any action against her,” Rumi Jha, a guardian, said.
