In bid to address public grievances concerning cleanliness of the municipal area more favorably, the English Bazaar Municipality, like other municipalities in the state is all set to launch a Whatsapp number for the people of the town.
Residents of EBM can now bring their problems and allegations under the notice of the officials through this messaging interface and the civic body subsequently will seek remedies for those.
A plan to clean the drains, roads, and to remove illegal hoardings and festoons from the town have been already thought of by the EBM and will be implemented shortly, it is learnt.
According to sources, a directive from the department of municipal affairs was sent to Malda on 28 February for adopting new means to lay stress on the cleanliness of the municipal area.
It was also mentioned to have swept the roads that come under the area, twice daily, to keep the drains clean.
Further, for beautification and to stop visual pollution, the municipalities of the state have been also directed to remove all the torn, old, illegal banners and hoardings from the area under the municipality, immediately.
The vice chairman of the civic body, Dulal Sarkar, said, “We are making a certain plan to fulfill the guidelines and directive sent by the department.
Moreover, we have started implementing some of them, like cleaning the roads. We are also having discussions with experts to make our municipality the cleanest.”
