Punjab Congress president and Member of Parliament from Gurdaspur, Sunil Jakhar on Thursday demanded the Union government to raise the issue with concerned western countries from where some separatist elements are threatening the political leaders of Punjab.
Jakhar said that in response to a question asked by him in the Lok Sabha, the Union government has also acknowledged that the extremist factions out of the country are threatening the leaders of Punjab.
He said Union minister of state for home affairs, Hansraj Ganga Ram Ahir, has replied in the Lok Sabha that anti-national elements are issuing such threats through video messaging and other means.
In this regard, Jakhar said that the Narendra Modi government of the Center has failed to take up this issue with the respective foreign governments in an effective manner.
He demanded the immediate intervention of the Union government to raise the issue with all such countries to take action against those elements which are trying to disturb the peace and harmony in the country.
