Around 100 specialised doctors from the country shared latest innovations and research in medical science at the three-day 36th annual conference of International Medical Sciences Academy (IMSA) here on Saturday.
The conference was organized in collaborations with the Indira Gandhi Medical College and Dr Radhakrishnan Government Medical College, Hamirpur with the theme ‘Igniting change and innovation in Health: the impact of Health Research’.
President of Academy, Dr K Jagadeesan, an internationally renowned surgeon from Chennai, said it was a platform to critically share and analyse the new happenings in medical sciences.
“We must interact, present the view and counter view and discuss the emerging issues in medical research threadbare in such conferences,” he said.
Dr Jagadeesan said the IMSA, set up in 1981 as a Society, takes into all the specialists into its ambit as one discipline in medical discipline cannot progress in isolation of others. We have to have integrated approach,” he said.
He said it was the most prestigious Societies in Medical and Biomedical Sciences sustaining both Academic and social relevance. The IMSA has world headquarters in Delhi.
Principal of IGMC, Shimla Dr Ashok Sharma said Himachal was leading in health care services. He stressed for making the medical science research patient centric.
Professor and Head, Department of Community Medicine at IGMC, Dr Anmol Gupta, who was organizing secretary of the conference, said it was the first such multi-specialty conference, where the experts in different fields are sharing platform.
“It is a great learning for doctors, who are getting exposure and access to the research being done in different disciplines under one roof.”
The annual conference began on 10 November with continuing medical education on TB and Tobacco integration.
Dr A K Bhardwaj, Dr Radhakrishnan Government Medical College, Hamirpur, HP, Dr Sonu Goel, PGIMER, Chandigarh and Dr Sarit Sharma, Dayanand Medical College, Ludhiana, Punjab put forward their view point on the subject. The conference will conclude with convocation on Sunday.
