The three-minute trailer of the documentary, ‘An Insignificant Man’, which depicts the rise of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and its chief Arvind Kejriwal, has created a buzz on  social media in the past few days.

The documentary, that will hit theatres on 17 November, chronicles the rise of Kejriwal from a social activist to the Delhi Chief Minister.

The official three-minute trailer released on 25 October ~ that captures the highs and the lows of the Delhi CM ~ has created a great deal of excitement among netizens, who are eagerly waiting to see the film on the big screen.

“Lovely trailer. Wud love to watch this one,” writes @piutalks on her wall. “It’s going to be worth a watch,” writes another twitter user @bachchanm.

The documentary has already been appreciated at more than 50 film festivals. According to media reports, it received a standing ovation at a screening at the Mumbai Academy of the Moving Image (MAMI) film festival in Mumbai.

The 95-minute documentary has been cut and edited from 400 hours of real, behind-the-scenes footage shot through a year following the birth of the newest political party in the country.

The popularity of the film can be gauged from the fact that with almost half -a -month still left for its release, tickets are sold out in metropolitan cities like Delhi and Bangalore.

“Dont remember which movie was last sold out in two big metros; that too a month in advance!,” commented a netizen Archit Srivastava on his facebook wall.

Like with much else about Kejriwal, the film faced a lot of trouble with the censor board. The filmmakers were asked to get permission from not just other politicians like former Congress Chief Minitser Sheila Dixit but also Prime Minister Narendra Modi. However, the film finally got the U/A certificate by the censor board on instructions from the Film Certification Appellate Tribunal (FCAT).

AAP has refused to comment on the documentary before its release. “Let us watch it first, only then we will be able to comment,” said a close aide of Kejriwal.

Directed by Khushboo Ranka and Vinay Shukla, the film has been backed by prestigious international organisations like Sundance, Skywalker Labs, Bertha Foundation.

“Can Kejriwal really succeed as a politician?” a commentator asks at the end of the trailer.
