Minister for Health, IPR and Printing department, Arjun Kumar Ghatani, On Sunday flagged off students, who have been selected for the 100 percent job training programme, at Melli Check post in South Sikkim. The unemployed youths have been selected under the Career Counseling programme/ Job Mela (fair), which was organized during the Jorethang Maaghe Sakranti Mela-2018 in January last.
Altogether, 17 unemployed youths were selected for the 100 percent job-oriented training programme in Civil Aviation and Hotel Management, Office Management and Beauty and Spa under the North East Regional Livelihood Project (NERLP) at Don Bosco institute in Assam. Minister Ghatani offered khadas and congratulated all the youths, while he also threw light on the various youth-oriented schemes of the state government.
“The government has been working relentlessly to create an atmosphere conducive to creating opportunities and career building platform for unemployed youths as envisioned by Chief Minister Pawan Chamling, who dedicated the NERLP in 2013 under the Rural Development and Management Department for the development of youths in Sikkim,” he said. He advised the candidates to be acquainted with the daily updates and achievements and boost the confidence level and skills.
He also urged the youths to undergo the assigned training programme properly and take maximum benefits of the sessions. Mr Ghatani also congratulated the 20 youths who had been given placements in renowned institutions throughout the country during the Jorethang Job Mela-2017. Earlier, District Project Manager of the NERLP, South, Bishal Mukhia, gave an overview of the NERLP and thanked Mr Ghatani for his efforts and concept to add Job Mela as one of the components at the Jorethang Maaghe Mela since last year. “This move has helped a large number of youths from rural parts of South and West districts in securing employment,” he said.
