Former Samajwadi Party leader Shivpal Yadav, who recently split from the party to form the Samajwadi Secular Morcha, announced that his newly-formed party will contest on all 80 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
Shortly after launching his political party, Yadav toured Baghpat and Muzzaffarnagar districts of western UP.
Speaking to the media in Darkawda village of Baraut in Baghpat on Friday, Yadav said that he parted ways with SP because the senior leaders were feeling insulted.
“We were being ignored,” said Shivpal, who was the most-powerful leader in SP after his elder brother Mulayam Singh Yadav and nephew Akhilesh Yadav.
Responding to his Akhilesh Yadav’s accusation that he and fellow SP leader Amar Singh were acting on the behest of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Shivpal said that his party has nothing to do with either BJP or Amar Singh.
Yadav left for Budhana town of Muzzaffarnagar district after where he is scheduled to address a public meeting.
His visit is being seen as a step towards building support base for his party.
