Governor Bandaru Dattatraya called upon the people to make a significant contribution in cleanliness and plastic-free campaign.

While inaugurating the cultural evening of international Kullu Dussehra festival in Kullu on Tuesday evening, the Governor said that the festivals celebrated in the state reveal the religious beliefs of the people.

He said that it was a good thing that despite the different geographical conditions, the people of the state were still devoted to their ancient culture, traditions and cultural heritage and these fairs and festivals were an important part of their lifestyle, where the enthusiasm and excitement of public life were reflected.

“As such, the entire Himachal is very beautiful. But Kullu district is world-renowned for its tempting beauty and valleys and has its unique place in India for its nature and culture,” said Dattatraya.

He added that every year lakhs of tourists from the country and abroad visit Kullu and enjoy the natural beauty. He urged the local residents to protect this beautiful environment. “Although environmental protection is a big challenge for us, human life and its development rests on this.”

Earlier, the Governor also paid obeisance at Lord Raghunath’s idol placed at mela ground.

Forest, Transport, Youth Services and Sports Minister Govind Thakur said Dussehra festival was very significant as teachings of Lord Rama were equally important in the present time as well. He appreciated the efforts of Kullu district administration for a better arrangement of the festival.
