School guard accused of molestation

After G.D Birla, Kamala Girls’ School, another government school is in the rader as a security guard was accused today of inappropriately touching students after luring them in the pretext of giving them candies.

Around 8 in the morning, 30-35 guardians of the students of Alipore Multipurpose School staged a demonstration in front of the school premises over the issue of alleged obscene and indecent behaviour of school security guard, Rameshwar Singh with a girl student.

Parents of students of the school, today gathered vented out their anger by beating up the accused security guard, Rameshwar Singh.

Moreover, when the wife and the daughter of the guard came to defend Singh, agitating parents beat up his family members as well.

Parents dragged the wife and daughter from their quarters and hit them both. The wife fell sick from the confrontation and was taken to the hospital.

The officer-in-charge of Alipore police station intervened forthwith and brought the situation under control.

A case has been registered under section 12 of ther POCSO Act and section 354A of the IPC following which Rameshwar was arrested.

Parents alleged Singh used to offer candies to the young students and take them to an isolated place.

The matter came to light after one of the students refused to accept the candies he offered and Singh allegedly threatened her with dire consequences.

Talking to the media, Raju Pal, a parent whose daughter is in class one of the school said, “This is not the first time that the school has overlooked his misconduct.

A few years before too he had committed such misconduct. The school did not take any action against him then. Even now the school is reluctant to sack him from his job.”
