M. Natarajan, husband of V.K. Sasikala, now jailed in Bengaluru for corruption, on Wednesday underwent a surgery clouded in controversy for transplant of liver and kidney.
The 74-year-old Natarajan was now progressing well, his wife’s nephew and AIADMK rebel leader T.T.V. Dinakaran told the media outside the Gleneagles Global Hospital here.
Sasikala has sought parole from jail to be by the side of her husband but was not given permission on grounds that her application was incomplete.
Critics alleged that the organs for Wednesday’s surgery were harvested from N. Karthick, a labourer who was shifted in an air ambulance from the Government Hospital in Thanjavur allegedly against medical advice.
It was reported that the labourer was taken out of the hospital without his family’s consent.
