Sangrur leads in wheat procurement in Punjab

With the highest wheat procurement of 10.96 Lakh Metric Tonne (LMT), the Sangrur district is leading in all over the state where total 121.64 LMT wheat has been procured till date.

An official spokesperson said  here on Sunday that Patiala at 8.93 LMT and Bathinda at 8.87 LMT are  the  two other districts behind Sangrur having major wheat procurement.

Detailing agency-wise, the spokesperson said that Punjab Grains Procurement Corporation Limited (PUNGRAIN) has procured 2.80 LMT wheat amounting to 23 per cent of the total procurement while Markfed procured  2.66 LMT which  amounts to 21.9  per cent. Whereas, Punjab State Civil Supplies Corporation Limited (PUNSUP) procured 2.34 LMT   leading   to 19.3 per cent,

Punjab State Warehousing Corporation (PSWC) procured 16.55 LMT which  is 13.6 per cent, Punjab Agro  Food Corporation (PAFC) procured 12.07 LMT approximating to 9.9 per cent while Food Cooperation of India (FCI) procured 14.38 LMT which amounts to 11.8 per cent of the total wheat procured so far.
