Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) holds officers’ meet


“Rourkela Steel Plant’s success depends on robust maintenance practices,” said Mr Ashwini Kumar, CEO, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) while addressing a group of senior officers of Steel Melting Shop-II (SMSII) and other associate departments here on Wednesday.

Mr. Subhendra Das, ED (Works), RSP, Mr. Girish Thakur and Mr. Sanjay Kumar both consultants of Boston Consultancy Group were present.

Notably, ‘SAIL Uday’ the largest-ever company-wide initiative was launched last year to create and implement a sustainable turn around strategy for SAIL.

The initiative has been taken up with the consultation of Boston Consulting Group. Emphasising upon the pivotal role of SMS-II in the success of the Plant the CEO commended the potential of SMS – II collective.

Mr Kumar exhorted the participants to bring about a change in mindset and attitude and create synergy amongst the various sections namely operations, mechanical and electrical.

Timely and effective maintenance would ensure RSP’s success and profitability, emphasised CEO, RSP. Mr Das urged the collective to focus on planning and inspection.

The workshop focussed on equipment availability, advance heat planning and scheduling, average casting time and heat and reduction in slab rejection.
