Rose Festival kicks off in capital

New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) Chairman Amit Yadav on Saturday inaugurated the Rose Festival here, as parts of the series of spring celebrations of the civic body.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chairman said, “Rose Festival, Tulip Festival and Flower Festival of NDMC make a place in the prominent event calendar in Delhi. Thousands of flower lovers appreciated such types of events to enhance the beauty and fragrance of the heart of New Delhi.”

Yadav informed that after the Tulip Festival’s success and appreciation from the large public of different walks of life, this year the NDMC is celebrating the spring season with a series of events. “Under the series of spring celebrations, NDMC Rose Festival is open for all for six days from 2nd to 7th March in the India- Africa Friendship Rose Garden, Shanti Path, Chanakyapuri in which more about 75 varieties of roses are displayed for the public,” he said.

The Chairman said it not only showcases the beauty but also enhances the environment with the fragrance of the New Delhi area. He appealed to the public to come and enjoy the beauty and vibrancy through varieties of rose. The Chairman also commended the hard work of gardeners who take care of tulips, roses and other flowers in the spring season and felicitated the team of Tulips and Roses gardeners on the occasion.

He also informed that the Rose Festival will include a series of events like painting competition and expert talk on roses.
