The Kunduli gang rape incident continued to rock the state with the BJP Mahila Morcha hitting the streets in Bhubaneswar and damaging glass notice boards at the state commission for women office, the brother of the victim moving the court in Koraput and former MP M A Kharavela Swain petitioning the High Court with a prayer for a CBI probe.
The brother of the victim girl today filed a case at the Sessions Court at Koraput alleging negligence on the part of several government officials. He had petitioned against 11 government officers including the DIG, SP, DSP, IIC, welfare officer and others.
The women wing of the BJP marched in protest in Bhubaneswar with a garland of bangles and damaged property of the state commission for women alleging that it had turned in to a BJD commission. The commission has not uttered a word on the Kunduli case and has done nothing, charged the BJP women leaders.
The Congress leaders at Koraput today unveiled a bust of the victim girl and said it would stand testimony to the girl who battled for justice for three months said the Congress leaders P Majhi, Taraprasad Bahinipati and others.
It may be noted that the girl was allegedly gang raped by four men in combat uniform near Kunduli on 10 October. The police and medical report stated that there were no signs of suicide.The victim girl committed suicide on 22 January. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has ordered a judicial probe in to the incident.
