Punjab VB nabs SDO taking bribe Rs. 50,000

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) on Friday nabbed a Sub Divisional Officer (SDO) of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) red-handed while accepting bribe of Rs. 50,000.

A VB spokesperson said Ram Lal Kler, the SDO, was posted at PSPCL office in Rahon in Shaheed Bhagat Singh (SBS) Nagar, who was nabbed red-handed on the complaint of Harjinder Singh, a resident of Bharta village of the same district.

The spokesperson further said that the complainant approached the VB with the complaint that the accused officer was demanding bribe of Rs. 50,000 from him for getting approval of a tubewell connection.

After verifying his information, the VB team laid a trap and the accused was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs. 50,000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses. A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused at VB police station in Jalandhar. Further investigations was in progress, the spokesperson said.
