Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) Punjab unit on Thursday said it will make the record fuel price hike an issue in its on-going ‘Punjab Jodo’ campaign.

In a joint statement, party legislators Prof Baljinder Kaur and Meet Hayer said AAP will mobilise people in the Punjab Jodo rallies against the record price hike in diesel-petrol and inflation.

After the first round of rallies, a big rally will be organised against the Modi government in Punjab, he said while strongly opposing the record price hike since the Narendra Modi government took over at the Centre.

Pro Kaur and Hayer said the Bhartiya Janata Party-Shiromani Akali Dal, who are allies, have formed a government in the Center by making false promises regarding inflation and fuel prices and have done the opposite by hiking the prices ever since the Lok Sabha polls.

They alleged the Modi government has not kept a single promise in the past four years. At the cost of the common man, corporate houses such as Ambani-Adani have benefited due to which gas prices, including diesel, petrol and petrol, have broken all records in history, the AAP leaders said.

Seeking Union minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal, resignation, the AAP leaders said along with Modi, she is equally responsible for the increase in diesel-petrol prices as Union Cabinet minister. For this reason, the Akali Dal does not open mouth against the prices of diesel-petrol and LPG, AAP leaders.

Prof Kaur and Hayer also appealed to the Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh to give relief to the public by reducing the taxes being charged on petroleum products in the state.
