The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader HS Phoolka on Saturday said he won't vote for the Congress Presidential candidate Meira Kumar as some party (Congress) leaders had participated in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.

"I just can't think of voting for the candidate of Congress party which has leaders like Jagdish Tytler and Sajjan Kumar.  I have conveyed my decision to the party," Phoolka told The Statesman over phone. He, however, didn't say if he would vote for the National Democratic Alliance's presidential candidate, Ramnath Kovind. AAP had decided to vote the Congress candidate, Kumar.

On the other hand, there were continuous questions in the political corridors that on one side of the 1984 riots, HS Phoolka was convinced Congress is guilty, on the other hand Congress candidate Meira Kumar has announced her party's support, whether Phoolka will vote for Congress ? It is to be mentioned here that following the 1984 riots, the Sikhs are being tortured in the riot. After this, they resigned as Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Legislative Assembly, they can give it full time to the case.

The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) had on Wednesday asked Phoolka to explain why his party had supported the Congress’ Presidential candidate Meira Kumar under his stewardship in Punjab, even though he stepped down from the post of leader of Opposition on the premise of fighting cases of Congress excesses committed in 1984 in Delhi. The SAD had alleged that Phoolka resigned as leader of Opposition to shift back to Delhi and restart his thriving law practice.

With the Delhi Bar Council asking senior advocate Phoolka to choose between his Cabinet status as leader of Opposition in Punjab Assembly and practice in the court, the AAP legislator from Dakha on Monday resigned from his post in order to keep appearing as counsel for victims of 1984 anti-Sikh riots
