“Own your job, internalise the target and keep the progress curve high,” said Mr Ashwini Kumar, CEO, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) while addressing the inaugural session of a new HR initiative, ‘Prerna – The Inspiration,’ here on Tuesday.
Emphasising on the tagline, ‘60th year of Production – RSP – Pragati Ke Path Par,’ Mr Kumar highlighted the importance of ‘Prerna’ and urged everyone to be self-motivated in order to motivate others.
“Ownership brings interest and commitment and when working with joy becomes the norm success is bound to come,” he said. Stating that ‘Prerna’ has been designed to benefit individuals as well as the steel plant, the CEO urged everyone to make the best use of the training programme and spread the message to others to help RSP scale new peaks of success.
He also thanked MTI, Ranchi, Durgapur Steel Plant and HRD Centre for meticulously designing the programme. Mr P K Pradhan, ED(P&A) congratulated HRDC team for taking up yet another exhaustive communication exercise for the non executives.
Mr Pradhan presented a brief on the challenges and exhorted all to strengthen the team spirit, co-operation and cohesion. Addressing the gathering, Mr Subhendra Das, ED(Works) said that the growth rate of any progressive organisation to survive in the competitive world is minimum 10 per cent and urged everyone to put their heart and mind to keep the organisation thriving.
Several general managers, heads of department and senior officers of the plant were also present on the occasion. At least 100 participants from different units of the plant are participating in the two-day long training programme.
At the outset, Dr. Sumit Datta, GM (HRD) delivered the welcome address and spoke about the objective of the programme. The programme, meant for non-executive employees focusses on soft skill aspects like working with pleasure, lean manpower, attitude and mindset, team work, decision making, responsibility, accountability, motivation and creativity.
