A seven-year-old girl suffered injuries after she was allegedly bitten by a pitbull dog in Jagatpuri, days after a toddler was killed in attacks by stray canine in the city.
“On 1st March at 20:47 pm a PCR was received at PS Jagatpuri in which a woman said that her 7-year-old daughter was bitten and dragged by a pitbull dog of her neighbour,” police said on Saturday.
On receiving the PCR call, staff reached at spot and enquired about the girl. The victim was found with her mother at her residence at Gali No 2, Jagatpuri and a dog bite was present on the body of the victim, they said.
As per the police, the mother of the girl told that at around 6 pm the incident happened and she took her girl to the local doctor and got the treatment. The victim girl along with her mother were sent to the Hedgewar Hospital for the medico legal case (MLC).
Police added that the dog owner has been identified as Shivanand Bhaskar, and a case under section 289 and 337 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered against him on the statement of the complainant.
The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) had issued notices to Delhi’s Chief Secretary, Commissioner of NDMC and Police Commissioner over the recent death of a toddler due to stray dog attack and sought a detailed report in the matter within six weeks.
The two-year-old girl was mauled to death by a pack of stray dogs in the Tughlak Lane area on 24th February.
