On the occasion of Gudi Padwa, selfie lovers in Bhopal got a unique gift from the state government – a selfie point!
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan unveiled on Sunday a unique ‘selfie point’ in the capital city for the denizens who love clicking photos of themselves.
The point is located at the Raja Bhoj statue on the VIP road which passes through Rizwan Bagh and Sajida Nagar areas of the city.
Chouhan took a selfie with those present at the ceremony which was held with much fanfare.
“The statue of Raja Bhoj recounts the rich legacy of Bhopal. I am glad to inaugurate the Raja Bhoj Selfie Point at VIP Road, which will not only give people a designated spot to get themselves clicked with the statue of the great king but also ensure their safety,” the CM tweeted following the inauguration of the designated spot.
The statue of Raja Bhoj, the legendary 11th century king of the Paramara dynasty in Malwa region in what is now western Madhya Pradesh, is located close to the Fatehgarh fort.
The statue overlooks a huge lake known as Bada Talab (Upper lake), making it a prominent tourist location of the city.
