New coach for Kalka-Shimla train to make journey more enjoyable

Now tourists travelling on Shimla-Kalka heritage railway track would be able to enjoy panoramic view of pristine beauty of Himalayas after the trial run of Vistadome (transparent) coach was successfully completed on Sunday.

The Vistadome coach costing Rs 10-lakh is made of glass at Kalka Railway Station and its roof and doors are made of transparent 12 mm thick glass. The train with Vistadome coach had taken off from Kalka on Saturday and reached Shimla in the evening.

The train left from Shimla Railway Station on Sunday and reached Kalka with railway staff on board, completing successful trial run.

As per reports, Union Railway minister Piyush Goyal during his last visit to Shimla had directed the Northern Railways to build such transparent coach narrow gauge rail line.

Goyal even tweeted about the Vistadome coach reaching Shimla Saturday evening. The timing, fare and number of coaches to be attached with the train are yet to be decided.
