Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Sunday said there was the need for providing education based on moral values and culture.

While presiding over the Annual Gurukul Shiksha Utsav at Gurukul Kurukshetra in Haryana today, he said the institution was a fine example of how one can blend ancient system of education with the modern education in order to build a responsive, cultured and civilized society.

“Our country was once known a ‘Vishav Guru’ as special emphasis was given on values (sanskars),” he said while reposing faith that the Gurukul would help in bringing back the lost glory of our past.

He said that Gurukul has not only doing a commendable work in the field of education but the endeavours to show a way to the entire world regarding adopting zero budget natural framing were also laudable.

“Himachal Pradesh has made a special provision of Rs 25 crore in the budget proposed for the year 2018-19 to promote zero budget natural farming,” he said.

Thakur said this was not only pure, safe and profitable but also hoped that it would transform the economy of the farmers.

Thakur said the government would ensure that the zero budget natural farming was adopted in the state in a big way.

“Recently a team of officers from State Agriculture Department and Agriculture and Horticulture Universities had visited Gurukul and given its suggestions to the government regarding promoting zero budget natural farming in the state,” he said.

He said that zero budget natural farming required minimum inputs and give maximum profits.
