Nadda reviews progress of AIIMS in Himachal

Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare JP Nadda reviewed the progress of the AIIMS in Bilaspur, his home district in Himachal Pradesh, with senior officials of the ministry and NBCC (India) Limited in Delhi on Saturday. The CMD of NBCC Anoop Kumar Mittal was also present at the meeting in Delhi.

Nadda directed that NBCC should aim to complete the work ahead of the deadline. NBCC presented the design of AIIMS Bilaspur to the Health Minister.

Nadda stressed on the need for constructing a helipad at AIIMS Bilaspur as patients will be transported from far-flung areas for quality treatment at the institute.Going into minute details, Nadda said there should be separate lanes for pedestrians along with vehicle free zones at the Institute.

He said there should be world class facilities at the Institute for visitors and attention should also be given to the construction of water harvesting plants.

The minister laid emphasis on building the Affordable Medicines and Reliable Implants for Treatment (AMRIT) outlets and Jan Aushadhi Kendra at AIIMS Bilaspur so that medicines can be provided at highly discounted rates to the poor.

AIIMS Bilaspur will be a 750 bedded hospital that will be constructed in 205 acres of land.

The entire project would be completed by 2020.

AIIMS announced by the NDA government in Bilaspur had been hanging fire for want of land during the previous Congress regime in Himachal and some other procedural complexities.
