Gangster Sunil Rathi, who is accused of murdering Munna Bajrangi at Baghpat district jail recently, has been shifted to Fatehgarh Central Jail.
Prashant Kumar, ADG of Meerut zone, confirmed that shifting of Sunil Rathi was done from Baghpat to Fatehgarh jail after receiving orders from Lucknow. Foolproof and tight security arrangements were made for this shifting so that the gangster is moved safely.
The team of about a dozen cops that shifted Rathi to Fatehgarh Central Jail was led by circle officer of Baghpat Rajveer Singh.
Sources said that all cops were wearing bulletproof jackets and equipped with sophisticated weapons and their travel was tracked through GPS till their destination.
In fact, precautions were taken also because the police is fearing a gang war among pro and anti-Munna Bajrangi groups. After the sensational killing of Bajrangi, there was a possibility of an attack on Rathi in Baghpat Jail.
Rathi is accused of gunning down Munna Bajrangi inside Baghpat district jail on Monday morning. Bajrangi was brought there on Sunday night from Jhansi jail for hearing of a case of extortion from former BSP MLA Lokesh Dixit.
Rathi was also shifted to Baghpat Jail from Roorkee a year before. He hails from Tikri village of Doghat area in Baghpat district. Possibly because of his local influence, he is believed to have a rapport in the jail.
He allegedly shot Bajrangi from a pistol smuggled inside the jail for killing Bajrangi. Police recovered the pistol, 2 magazines and 22 live cartridges from the jail premises after the murder. Now, investigations are on to find out how the weapon and ammunition reached Rathi.
