The fire that broke out at Beau Monde Towers at Appasaheb Marathe Marg in Worli’s Prabhadevi locality on Wednesday has been contained.
The fire department said that though the Level-III fire in the Towers is under control there is intense heat and fire in some pockets.
The building houses properties of some celebrities, including an apartment belonging to Bollywood actor Deepika Padukone.
At least 90 residents were evacuated safely after a fire broke out on the 33rd floor of the Towers.
According to officials, the fire was first spotted at 2.10 pm on the uppermost floors of the building. In no time, thick black clouds of smoke were billowing out.
More than a dozen fire-tenders battled the blaze. Mumbai Police had tweeted that the force’s staff and Fire Brigade was working to control the fire.

The actress took to Twitter to thank everyone for their concern and prayed for the safety of the firefighters.
“I am safe. Thank You everyone. Let us pray for our firefighters who are at site risking their lives,” wrote the 32-year-old actress.

This is the third major fire incident this month in Mumbai.
On June 9, a fire inside Patel Chambers in Mumbai’s Fort area left two firefighters injured. A part of the building collapsed due to fire.
On 1 June, a fire broke out at the Income Tax office in the multi-storeyed Scindia House in South Mumbai. No casualties were reported.
In October 2017, a fire broke out on the 10th floor of La Mer residential building in Bandra. No injuries or deaths were reported. Sachin Tendulkar’s in-laws reportedly own the 10th and 11th floor of the building.
But the most devastating incident happened on 29 December last year when 14 people lost their lives in a blaze that gutted two pubs in the Kamala Mills Compound in Lower Parel.
