Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal BS Dhanoa paying tribute at the Shaheed Smarak in Noida on Friday


The 17th wreath laying ceremony at the Noida Shaheed Smarak Sanstha was observed on Friday. The Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Birender Singh Dhanoa, was the chief guest.

The purpose of the function is to bring the soldier and the civilian together on a common platform to inspire the youth. The ceremony was carried out with military precision and in a solemn and dignified manner.

The chief guest laid the wreath, followed by other senior services brass. Thereafter, families of 38 martyrs, civil and military dignitaries, IAS and IPS officers, heads of Arun Vihar and Jalvayu Vihar institutions, defence personnel, veterans, students of Army Public School, Cambridge and Khaitan schools; and common citizens paid their homage.

A Tri services Guard and buglers were in attendance. Students of Army Public School sang patriotic songs.

The Shaheed Smarak (memorial) in Noida’s Sector 37 has been built by Noidaites, led by retired defence personnel from all the three Services.

It is a tribute to the martyrs of Gautam Buddh Nagar (At present 38 martyrs).
