Many ground level Congress leaders in MP join BJP

Former Congress MLA Chaudhary Gambhir Singh, who has been a Kamal Nath loyalist for years, quit the grand old party and joined the BJP along with several other leaders and workers of Chhindwara district in Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday.

Gambhir Singh is also the State General Secretary of the Congress in MP. Along with him, Farmers’ Congress President Chand Chauriya, district Congress committee Vice-President Satish Mishra and other Congress leaders also joined the saffron party.

MP BJP Chief V D Sharma and other leaders welcomed the Congress leaders and workers into the party-fold and officially handed over the membership of BJP to them.

Former Indore district women Congress head Jaya Tiwari also quit the Congress and joined the BJP today. She said she had felt very hurt when the Congress declined the invitation to attend the consecration ceremony of Lord Ram Lalla Temple at Ayodhya.

Adding to the continuing woes of the Congress in Madhya Pradesh, as many as 80 members from 12 districts of the MP Congress Doctors’ Cell also joined the BJP today.

Amongst those who quit the grand old party, are Congress Doctors’ Cell State head Dr Basant Rai, Gwalior-Chambal division head Dr Siddhant Dubey, Shivpuri district president Dr Neelesh Sharma and others.

MP BJP Chief V D Sharma handed over the membership cards of the BJP along with party’s saffron scarves to all those who joined the ruling party.
