The Eid celebrations turned into mourning when a person was stabbed to death by his neighbour allegedly after he protested harassment of his daughter at Lisari village on Tuesday night.
Police, however, denied the eve-teasing theory and said that the crime was the result of dispute over ‘qurbani’ on the occasion of Eid.
“The main accused Imran has been arrested and knife used in the crime been recovered,” said SSP Rajesh Kumar Pandey, claiming that the incident was a fallout of a dispute over ‘qurbani’ for Eid and not because of eve-teasing.
According to the victim Arshad’s family, Imran used to pass comments on his daughter.  Arshad used to warn Imran against it and on Tuesday night, he did the same, which enraged Imran and he, along with his aides, stabbed Arshad when he was sitting outside his home.
Imran escaped from the spot while Arshad was rushed to a private hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. This residents of Lisari attacked Imran’s residence and set ablaze his three-wheeler.
The situation was, however, controlled by the police.  Imran has been arrested, while raids are being conducted to arrest his two accomplices.
