Man killed in fire at a building in Delhi’s Shahadara

man lost his life in an incident of fire that broke out in a four-story building in Shahdara, Delhi on Friday, the Fire Department said.

According to Delhi Fire Services, four tenders were rushed to the spot to douse- off the blaze after the incident was reported at around 7.15 am on Friday.

The deceased was identified as 70-year-old Budruk Mahto, a Fire Department official said.

The building where the fire broke out is a residential complex of four floors located on Moti Ram Road, Loha Mand, Shahadara.

According to the Fire Department, the blaze was brought under control at around 8.40 am.

The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.

Meanwhile, in a massive fire on Thursday at a paint and chemical go down in Alipur, 11 people were charred to death.

The Delhi government has announced an ex gratia of Rs 10 lakh each to the kin of each deceased and Rs 2 lakh per person who is seriously injured, while Rs 20 thousand for those who sustained normal injuries during the incident.

The fire had started from a paint godown and later spread to eight shops and a nasha mukti centre.
