The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Uttarakhand on Wednesday said that more than 40 per cent voters, nearly 34 lakh, across the state have been administered oaths to cast their votes in the coming Lok Sabha polls.

The CEO office informed that efforts are being made under Systematic Voter’s Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme to increase the state’s vote share to 75 per cent as compared to 62 per cent in 2019 Lok Sabha polls.

“Uttarakhand poll percentage in 2019 General Elections was around 61.5 per cent. All efforts are being made to increase it to 75 per cent this time,” said Joint Chief Electoral Officer Namami Bansal.

According to Bansal, different activities are being organised to ensure safe and peaceful conduct of Lok Sabha elections.

“Nearly 34.94 lakh voters, more than 40 per cent of the state’s electorate, have been administered the oath to cast their votes. All 83.2 lakh voters are being roped in under various awareness activities of the Election Commission of India,” added Bansal.
