Kurseong readies for HS exams

The Kurseong sub-divisional administration has made elaborate arrangements for holding smooth and peaceful higher secondary examinations under its jurisdiction.

Sub-divisional magistrate Debashish Chattopadhyay convened a meeting in his chamber on 15 March in his efforts to plan the different arrangements for the examinations that are scheduled to begin on 27 March.

Several representatives and officials from different departments concerned, including the deputy magistrate Kurseong, Additional Treasury Officer, AI Schools (Pry), Sristi Gomden, the AI (Secondary) who is also the Centre in-charge, Fr Kevin Moktan, Headmaster of St Alphonsus School and the Centre secretary, AI Secondary, Health, and venue incharge of all 17 venues of the Sub-division, attended the meeting.

“There will be 17 venues, out of which, class XI and Class XII exams will be held in six centres and Class XI exams will be held in 11 centres. Respective schools will hold their own Class XI examinations conducted by the Board, while only those appearing in the Higher Secondary Examinations will have to go to centres outside that are selected by the administration,” Mr Chattopadhyay said.

According to him, police arrangements will be made at all the venues, while traffic will be strictly monitored in the town.

Uninterrupted electricity supply will be ensured during the exams, while prohibitory orders under Section 144 under the Crpc will be imposed in and around all the venues to ensure peace and avoid untoward incidents, officials said.

No electronic gadgets will be allowed in the venues during the exams. The Health Department will also arrange for first aid and ambulance, in case of any medical emergency. The total number of examinees for both the XI and XII exams is 3057 in the Kurseong Sub-division, it is learnt.
