A day after the gruesome murder of RTI activist Kedar Singh Jindan, his kin on Saturday met the Director General of Police (DGP) and demanded strict action against the culprits.
Kedar was allegedly murdered on Friday afternoon, while he was returning home in Bhakras in Sirmaur district.
According to police prima-facie it seemed to be a road accident, however, later the seizure of the vehicle used for crime and arrest of two persons revealed of murder.
He is said to have been run over by a vehicle.
In a written communiqué to the DGP, SR Mardi, the wife of slain RTI activist, Hem Lata accused the involvement of the more than two people of village of Bharkas in the murder of her husband.
She alleged that Kedar was first beaten up and later his head was crushed under vehicle. Her husband who was also a social worker and a dalit leader had earned the wrath of the villagers after he had recently exposed fraud in the list of families of families living below poverty line (BPL), she charged. The culprits should be hanged to death, asserted Hem Lata.
Fearing threat to her life and lives of her family members she has also demanded police security.
Kedar in the month of June in a press conference at Shimla had claimed of obtaining information sought under RTI that six well to do families had got themselves wrongly registered in the list of BPL.
Sirmaur Superintendent of Police (SP) Rohit Malpani said that an FIR was registered on Friday at Police Station Shillai under section 302, 34 IPC. Two accused Jai Prakash and Gopal Singh both from Bakras in Shillai bof Sirmaur have been arrested and the vehicle Scorpio used to run over the victim also seized.

Investigations are on and the police are yet to ascertain the exact cause of murder, he added. Meanwhile, the body of Kedar Singh has been brought to Indira Gandhi Medical College for autopsy on Saturday.
