The Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday accused Congress president Rahul Gandhi of disrespecting the national song, Vande Mataram.
BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra posted a video on Twitter in which Rahul Gandhi can be seen giving some instructions to party functionaries, while signalling to his watch. BJP has claimed that he was asking the song ‘Vande Matram’ to be cut short.
Patra, on Twitter, wrote, “Rahul Gandhi directs to cut Vande Mataram to a single line during a public rally in Karnataka ..now this is why we call Him “Sahzada” ..His sense of entitlement is appalling..thinks this country is family property..can at his wish amend the National Song?”

In the video, Rahul Gandhi is seated with other Congress functionaries on stage during a public rally in Dakshina Kannada. He signals the organisers to wrap up the event quickly.
After Gandhi’s request, the presenter directs that just one line of the national song is sung.
