Three accused, who were absconding after allegedly gangraping a minor girl in Palampur area of Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh, were on Saturday nabbed from Uttar Pradesh (UP).

The accused were allegedly hiding in Muzaffarnagar area of Uttar Pradesh and they were planning to flee to Nepal when they were arrested by cops from Gorakhpur.

The three accused, who are in their twenties, had allegedly stopped in Kapurthala district of Punjab, before fleeing to UP, police officials said, adding that they are being brought back to HP.

The accused used to work as labourers in the area and none of the accused was known to the victim, police officials added.

Two juveniles in the case had already been arrested by the police.

The accused, along with two juveniles, had gangraped the 15-year-old girl in Palampur, when she, along with a friend, was returning from temple on 26 April.

The minor girl, who was studying in XI, had stopped near a forest at Parore in Palampur division from where they were waylaid by the accused. The five accused started questioning them about the reason for stopping there and then gangraped her after assaulting her male friend.
