Jai Ram Thakur launches signage to mark Gandhi’s sesquicentennial


Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Tuesday inaugurated signage of Mahatma Gandhi and photo gallery at Himachal Pradesh State Museum at Chaura Maidan, Shimla.

Thakur along with several other state leaders and people from different walks of life on also paid floral tributes on the memorial of Mahatma Gandhi at the historic Ridge on his 150th birth anniversary.

The CM also administered the ‘Swachhatta Oath’ to the people present on the occasion to keep the state clean to achieve the dream of ‘Swachh Bharat’.

Thakur also flagged off School Children Rally-Run against Drug Abuse and Awareness on the occasion.

He also offered floral tributes on the memorial of former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri on his 114th Birth anniversary along with Education minister Suresh Bhardwaj and other leaders including MC councillors.

The CM termed him as an apostle of peace and harmony. The CM inaugurated the signage of Gandhi and also photo galleries at Himachal Pradesh State Museum at Chaura Maidan, Shimla.

He also released a short documentary on Rock Art produced by the Language, Art and Culture Department and a Book on Baijnath temple written by Devinder Handa. CM watched a film on Gandhi Ji ‘Mujh Main Hai Gandhi’.

A film produced by the Language Art and Culture Department under ‘Aaj Purani Rahon Se’ was also screened on the occasion.

This film is based on several visits of Gandhi Ji to Shimla.

Earlier, the Chief Minister along with Mayor Municipal Corporation Shimla Kusum Sadrate, Deputy Mayor Rakesh Sharma and Councillors participated in Swachhatta Abhiyan at Sanjauli on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.

School children participated with great enthusiasm in the cleanliness campaign launched by the CM.
