Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Thursday hailed Finance Minister Arun Jaitley’s announcement of the National Health Protection Scheme in the Union budget. He said 10 crore people would get free healthcare benefits with Rs 5 lakh as insurance cover to each family in case of critical ailment to the poorest of the poor under the scheme.
Thakur lauded the decision to provide minimum support price to farmers and said that this was a step for increasing the income of farmers.
The CM said the Union Transport Ministry had sanctioned 69 National Highways for the state, but the Congress did not even invite tenders for preparation of detailed project report. Thakur said the BJP government was committed to the poor and needy and not to favour retired, tired and hired.
“Roads are the lifeline of the people and with the announcement in Union Budget regarding connecting 3,000 habitations with roads under Pradhan Mantri Grameen Sadak Yojna (PMGSY) in the state, it will give an added boost to the road infrastructure in Himachal Pradesh.”
He hailed the budget announcement of completing Rohtang Tunnel soon.
Jai Ram hails Shanta
Thakur lauded former CM Shanta Kumar for his clean image, while addressing a public meeting at Sulah, a constituency earlier represented by Kumar, on Thursday.
“To maintain a clean image in politics is more important and Member of Parliament Shanta Kumar is a well known example,” he said, assuring the public of zero tolerance towards corruption.
