Amid the ongoing row over the 6 Flag Staff Road bungalow’s allotment to Delhi CM Atishi and its cancellation, BJP’s state unit chief Virendra Sachdeva on Wednesday visited the house located at 17 A.B. Mathura Road, near the Supreme Court, and claimed that the bungalow is already allocated to CM. He accused the CM of not staying at the said bungalow herself, alleging that she misused her position to allow some of her political associates to occupy the premises.
Addressing the media, he posed four questions to Atishi, asking her to please clarify to whom the bungalow at 17 A.B. Mathura Road is allocated.Secondly, he asked her that wasn’t it true that former Delhi CM Sheila Dikshit ran the government from the same bungalow between 1998 and 2004, and if yes, why can’t Atishi do the same.
The Delhi BJP chief questioned why 6 Flag Staff Road was not declared as the ‘official CM residence’ during the tenure of ex- Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal during 2015-2024. Finally, he also asked Atishi as to who was currently occupying the bungalow allocated to her at 17 A.B. Mathura Road.
Sachdeva criticized the AAP leadership, alleging that they used petty political tactics and further, trying to deflect criticism over the “Sheesh Mahal” bungalow controversy by raising questions about the Prime Minister’s residence.
He clarified that the PM’s residence is an officially designated property where construction and renovation have been transparently carried out, unlike the alleged irregularities surrounding the construction activities at 6 Flag Staff Road during Kejriwal’s administration.
