Two days after a teenage boy was allegedly tortured by cops in illegal detention in Bathinda, the Punjab State Human Rights Commission (PSHRC) took suomotocongnisance of the incident on Tuesday. Asking to come up with a report from Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) of state home department the panel has fixed 26 February as next date of hearing.
In its order issued on Monday, the state child rights panel observed that minor son of folk-singer, AvtarChamak, was caught by owner of the house on the roof where he had gone to catch a kite. An allegation of theft was made on him by the owner later. When the victim did not agreed to give statement as per desire of the owner of the house, he was handed over to the police. The police inhumanly tortured and put petrol on his private part, observed the panel.
A 13-year-old boy was allegedly tortured by cops in illegal detention at the Kotwali police station in Bathinda to force him to accept involvement in theft cases.
AmandeepKaur, mother of victim Lakhwinder Singh, a resident of FaujiChowk area had stated that her son was tortured by five policemen last Sunday and Monday.
