Himachal Pradesh government gearing up for a digital transformation and intends to connect almost all villages with internet.
The state Information and Technology and Agriculture minister Ram Lal Markanda said that it was part of his government’s agenda for the 100 days, while taking up the new challenges for implementing the programmes of the government.
He said a Detailed Project Report (DPR) would be prepared and sent to the Central government for funding and also permission will be sought from the Information and Broadcasting ministry of the Central government to provide Wi-Fi internet facility to all the 3,243 villages, he added.
This would empower the rural masses and provide access to information and public services. Permission for transfer of land will be provided for setting up of a Software Technology Park of India (STPI) in Kangra on the lines of setting up for STPI in Shimla, he said.
All these projects are under the nine point programme of the state government to development Information and Technology in the state, he informed.
To bring transparency in the functioning of the various government departments, five more offices will be e-office system, as many as seven departments have already been covered under it, he added.
The works done by the state government under the IT will be shared with the masses through social media that include Face Book etc, said Ram Lal Markanda.
