HP Governor, CM mourn demise of Urmila Singh

Governor Acharya Devvrat and Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Wednesday mourned the demise of former Governor of Himachal Pradesh  Urmila Singh, who passed away due to prolonged illness at a private hospital in Indore on Tuesday. She was 71.

She was appointed as the Governor of Himachal Pradesh on 25 January 2010 and served the State till 27 January 2015.

Acharya Devvrat, in his condolence message, has termed  Urmila Singh as a good Governor, who worked for empowerment of women and neglected sections of the society in the state.

In his condolence message, Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said that Urmila Singh worked for the welfare of tribal communities in Madhya Pradesh and her contribution to the state as Governor will be remembered by all.

Acharya Devvrat and Thakur prayed to the Almighty to grant peace to the departed soul and strength to family members to bear this irreparable loss.
