Govt seeks special package for industries under ‘Make in Himachal’ programme

The state Industries minister Bikram Singh on Thursday Central government for providing special package for industries that are being set up under ‘Make in Himachal’ programme.
After a meeting with Union Commerce and Industries minister Suresh Prabhu, Singh called for introducing certain performance related incentives for new industries and existing ones on substantial expansion.

He demanded incentives for industries as Central Freight Subsidy, Central Capital Investment Subsidy as per scheme notified in 2013, Reimbursement of 50 per cent CGST, Interest Subsidy on term loans and working capital and income tax concessions.

He also urged for speedy formulation of a package of incentives, concessions and facilities for boosting economic development in the industrial sector in Himachal Pradesh (HP).

“Himachal had witnessed rapid progress in 2003 due to package given by the then NDA government as investment and employment increased by 88 per cent and 56 per cent respectively,” he said. He urged the Union minister for opening an ESI Hospital at Gagret and Sansarpur Terrace in order to provide good health facilities to industrial workers and local population in the areas.
