In an order to achieve the target of providing houses for all till 2022, the Haryana government has decided to revise its Affordable Housing Policy (AHP). In this regard, the Chief Minister Manohar Lal has approved an AHP to provide cheaper houses to the people of small urban areas, especially in the old city boundaries in the state.
In a statement issued here on Sunday, Urban Local Bodies (ULB) Minister, Kavita Jain said that the state government had formulated an AHP for old cities within the jurisdiction of ULBs. She said that although there was already a plan for setting up of sectors in urban areas by Town and Country Planning Department, yet there was no such plan for the old cities in urban areas.
The policy of 2013 was applicable only for residential sectors of urban areas. Therefore, ULB Department was directed to formulate a new policy, she added.
Jain further said that under AHP, the ULB Department would give approval for housing projects in old cities of urban areas, from half acre to two-and-a-half acres and from two-and-a-half to five acres, on the basis of 250 and 275 Floor Area Ratio (FAR), respectively.
She said that applicable site should be at least nine meters on road with the population density between 750 and 900 persons per acre and on six per cent area. She also said, business activities would be allowed to be conducted from 175 FAR. In this policy, the beneficiaries of the Prime Minister’s Housing Scheme (Urban) would be provided with houses of 30 meters category, on priority basis, she added. She said that the urban areas of the state had been divided into four zones.
