A teenaged girl was set afire by a group of youths on Friday after she refused to speak to one of them over phone in Sardhana town of the district.
The victim girl is undergoing treatment at a private hospital. Police have arrested two of the six accused named by the family members in their complaint to the police.
“Main accused Rajvanshi Bagdi and his accomplice have been arrested while raids are being conducted to arrest others,” said Rajesh Kumar, SP (Rural).
The girl’s family has named Rajvansh Bagdi, Devendra Bagdi, Rohit Saini, Gajraula Saini, Aman and Deepak as accused in the case.
According to sources, the accused had been troubling the girl for some time when she used to go to her coaching institute. On Thursday, one of the accused gave her a phone, saying that he will call her at night. The terrified girl narrated the entire incident to her family members.
When at night, the accused called, the girl’s father picked the call and scolded the caller with a warning not to harass his daughter.
The family members went to the youth’s house on Friday and told his family members about the entire episode. When the two families were discussing the matter, the youth, along with his friends reached girl’s house and set her afire after pouring kerosene oil on her.
