The Uttarakhand government has started preparations for the International Yoga Day function to be held in Dehradun.
This time the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 21 June will put the spotlight on India’s premier forestry research institute. Modi will perform Yoga postures with 60,000 participants at the pristine Forest Research Institute (FRI), which offers picturesque views and is a hot destination for Bollywood filmmakers.
The green lawns, diverse vegetation and the architecture of the main building create a beautiful setting. The Forest Research Institute (FRI) was featured as a college in the movies ‘Student of the Year’ and ‘Rehnaa Hai Tere Dil Mein’.
Very recently the shooting of Tiger Shroff-starrer ‘Student of The Year 2’ was done at the FRI campus. By hosting the International Yoga Day, the FRI is all set to hog the limelight again.
Uttarakhand Chief Secretary Utpal Kumar Singh reviewed the preparations on Tuesday. He said that for creating awareness about yoga, ‘Run for Yoga’ will be organised in the month of June. The online registration and passes will be looked after by ITDA.
Singh said that trainees should be trained by able Yoga instructors. A control room has been established to monitor the day to day progress of the preparations.
Chairing the meeting held at Secretariat on Tuesday, Utpal Kumar formed organising committees for the event. An apex committee under Chief Secretary, law and order committee under ADG (Law-Order), Coordination Committee headed by Secretary, Ayush, Yoga committee under Vice-Chancellor of Ayurveda University, Organising site committee under District Magistrate, Dehradun, Transport committee under Secretary, Transport, Media committee under Information, Secretary, Cleanliness committee under City Commissioner were formed.
The massive Yoga demonstration will be held between 7 am to 7.45 am. Rehearsal will be done on 18 June and a full rehearsal will be on 19 June.
The members of Uttarakhand police, Army, para-military forces, NCC, NSS, Scouts and Guides, Yoga institutes, school, colleges, women and senior citizen organisations, youth clubs and Nehru Yuva Kendra, ASHA, ANM workers and other people will participate in the show.
Yoga institutes will give training to the participants. Apart from national event in Uttarakhand, similar collective yoga display events will be organised in all the state capitals, districts, blocks and gram pachayats in the country.
