French ambassador to inaugurate ‘French Pavilion’ at Book Fair

The Ambassador of France to India, Alexandre Ziegler will extend a new chapter of France’s cultural and bilateral partnership with India by inaugurating the French Pavilion~The Experience- at the Kolkata Book Fair as part of Bonjour India.

The four-month long voyage across the country has been celebrating the Indo-French friendship to shape the next decade of people to people interaction between the two countries with Kolkata at the heart of attention.

The French ambassador, Mr Alexandre Ziegler will inaugurate the event in the presence of chief minister Mamata Banerjee, at the Central Park venue of Salt Lake on 30 January.
The evening will witness a digital exhibition~The Experience~ which will showcase the scale and richness of the past, present and future relations between India and France. Annie Terrier, director of the ‘Book Festival’ in Aix-en-Provence will curate a literary programme for the Indian book lovers that will feature interactions between French and Indian authors and publishers across the city for 10 days.

The event will apparently explore the place of literature in a world transformed by social tensions caused by immigrations and terrorist threats.The experts and writers for the event will include renowned personalities such as Frederic Boyer, Philippe Forest, Christian Garcin, Katia Legeret, Gerard Meudal, Sebastian Ortiz, Jean-Claude Perrier, Antoine Volodine, Shumona Sinha and Sabrine Wespieser.

During the visit, the Ambassador of France to India will bestow upon renowned actor and artist Soumitra Chatterjee the insignia of Chevalier de la Legion d’honneur, the highest French national award at a reception ceremony that will be held in his honour in the presence of around 200 guests.
