Four swine flu cases reported in Meerut

Four persons, among them a woman and two children, in Meerut have tested positive for the H1N1 virus that causes swine flu taking the total figure to 5 this year.

The medical college lab said Meena Singhal, 58, and her two grandsons, Ishan and Kushagra, have been confirmed as being infected with swine flu. Another person, Govind, 64, has also contracted it. Chief medical officer Dr Rajkumar said Govind is from Muzzaffarnagar and is getting treatment in a private hospital there.

Meena has been shifted to a private hospital in Gurgaon. Dr Rajkumar said Ishan lives with his parents in Indirapuram. Hence, there health departments of Ghaziabad and Muzaffarnagar have also been put on alert.

Early this year one more patient tested positive for swine flu virus. Last year 396 patients were detected with swine flu in the city. Twenty one died during treatment.
