Four lower-rung Naxals were on Saturday arrested in Chhattisgarh s Sukma district, police said.

The rebels were apprehended from the Dornapal police station area when a joint team of the CRPF and district force was out on a search operation, Sukma Superintendent of Police Abhishek Meena told PTI.

The area is located around 500km from the state capital Raipur.

Those arrested were identified as Kawasi Hidma (26), Kuhram Veera (45), Podiam Hidma (34) and Madvi Ganga (26), all members of the Dandakaranya Adivasi Kisan Mazdoor Sangthan (DAKMS)- a front organisation of Maoists, he said.

They all were allegedly involved in planting an IED near Penta village in October last year to target security forces, Meena added.
