Four Maoist couriers arrested in Chhattisgarh

Four alleged Maoist couriers, belonging to Telangana, were arrested in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district today, police said.

They were allegedly carrying materials used in making explosives for rebels when they were intercepted and arrested, a police officail said.

Based on a specific input, the four, who were travelling on three motorcycles and an autorickshaw with explosive-making materials, were nabbed near a school under Maraiguda police station limits, around 500km from here, Sukma Additional Superintendent of Police Jitendra Shukla told PTI.

The arrested were identified as Barla Suresh (30), K Shrinu (36), Nakka Anil (21) and Komran Arjun (32) – all natives of Bhadradri Kothagudem district in the neighbouring Telangana, he said.

Two dozen bundles of cordex wire, 500 pieces of detonators and transmitters were seized from their possession, he said.

Besides, Rs 10,000 in cash, four mobile phones, one silver chain and the motorcycles and autorickshaw used by them were also seized, the ASP added.
