Sandeep Sharma alias Adil, the Lashar-e- Toiba terrorist arrested in Jammu and Kashmir has brought nothing but disgrace to his family in Muzaffarnagar.

His shocked 55-year-old widowed mother, Prem has locked herself in their one room rented house in Ankit Vihar locality Muzaffar Nagar upon being released by the police once her statement was recorded.

Sandeep's other family members include elder brother Praveen, his wife Rekha and their seven year old son.

His brother Praveen is an auto-rickshaw driver in Hardwar while the two women work as domestic helps and do other menial jobs to make ends meet.

Sandeep's father Ramkumar worked as a welder . He passed away five years before after which the condition of the family worsened.

"The women in the house work hard to earn money for the family. Last year they could not send their only son to school but managed admission fee this year," said Sudha who owns a general store next to the house.

It is believed that Sandeep was taken to Delhi by his cousin Sonu Sharma who was also a welder in the village. There, he introduced him to a lawyer contractor who sent him to Jammu and Kashmir for work.

Prior to this Sandeep had no criminal  record in Muzzaffarnagar , said Senior Suprintendent of Police (SSP), Anant Dev Tiwari adding  that Sandeep Sharma had left Muzaffarnagar three years ago.

He did not contact his family since leaving the village until four months back when he finally called his brother and told him that he got a job in Kashmir.

Praveen claimed that they had already snapped ties with him.

"If he is a terrorist he should be punished for anti national activities ," he said in a statement to the media.

Sandeep was arrested in J-K on Monday for his alleged links with LeT.
