The Annual Sports Day of Delhi Public School, Siliguri, for the session 2017-18 kicked off on the school grounds here on Friday. It will be a two-day affair, with Day-1 named as Speed Track-I (for students of classes Nursery to 4) and Day-2 named Speed Track-II (for students of Class 5 onwards).
The dignitaries present on Speed Track-I were Ram Bilas Agarwal, the President of the Bidya Bharti Foundation, Kamlesh Agarwal, the Pro- Vice Chairperson, Delhi Public School, Siliguri, Shailender Kaur, Headmistress of DPS Fulbari, SP Das, Principal, DPS Siliguri and Sukanta Ghosh, Vice Principal, DPS Siliguri.
The day started with the hoisting of the school flag by the dignitaries, while the sports flame was lighted by the principal along with the students. “One should not get disheartened by defeat. Rather, one should accept defeat and rise up again for a better performance next time,” Principal, Mr Das said. Ms Kaur informed the parents about the new upcoming venture of the Bidya Bharti Foundation, the DPS at Fulbari in Siliguri.
Various races like 20 mtr Spoon & Marble race, bursting the balloon, partner race, collecting the balls, peeling the orange etc followed the inauguration ceremony. In between their events, the students also put up a drill display, while children of classes 3 & 4 had 60 mtr flat race, Obstacle race, Shuttle run, Relay race etc for them. In the end, an 80 mtr flat race was held for mothers and a 100 mtr flat race for fathers of the students.
